1st Street SW and First Street Market

Eight places in this guide are on the 1200 and 1300 blocks of 1st Street SW. First Street Market, at 1327 1st Street SW, calls itself a food hall and bar; its site names nine food vendors and a licensed bar focused on local craft beer and cocktails, and lists hours of 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday to Wednesday, 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Thursday and Friday, 8:00 am to 10:00 pm Saturday and 8:00 am to 9:00 pm Sunday, Calgary time. Stampede Park runs along Macleod Trail between 12 Avenue SE and 25 Avenue SE, according to the Calgary Stampede. Cardinale and Melrose are each a 0.5 km walk to the Saddledome’s west side, measured on a map by this site. Cowboys Casino and Elbow River Casino, at the edge of Stampede Park, are on Casinos at Victoria Park.

17 Avenue SE and the Stampede Park edge

17 Avenue SE continues into Stampede Park as Flores LaDue Parade, the extension whose completion CMLC announced on October 10 2024 together with the rebuilt Victoria Park/Stampede CTrain station. CMLC says it operates year-round as a connection for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles into Stampede Park, and can close during the Stampede in July and other large events.

From the north, the Saddledome’s Getting Here page suggests the Platform Parkade on 9th Ave SE (Calgary Parking Lot 62) as off-site parking; walking routes and road changes north of the venues are on Getting to Victoria Park.
